Sadaharu Oh Game Used Hat from 1977 Season
In September 1977, Clyde
Wright, an American pitcher for the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants, received a game
used uniform from Sadaharu Oh for his personal collection.
Wright later donated the
jersey to a charity auction in California.
The hat, however, he kept
until he consigned it to a sports memorabilia dealer earlier this year.
Before purchasing this hat,
I spoke to Wright who verified that the hat was his and was game-used by
Sadahru Oh during September of 1977.
The hat's material and labels
are consistent with those used by the Giants during the late-1970s.
It is a size 57which was
Ohfs hat size during the mid-1970s.
The hat has been folded into
thirds and assumes that position unless braced.
Pictures of Oh from the
1970s show that he folded his hats in exactly this manner and placed them
in his back pocket while he batted.
Wright told me that he had
the hat dry cleaned and the fabric is very clean but the inside leather
band shows strong wear and has shrunk.
I will provide letters of authenticity from the Sports Memorabilia dealer I purchased it from and also from me.
My Price $1500
